Chrome Pony, Wet Socks, and Garden Giant at The Jinx – photos

I had Chrome Pony on my list for this year’s Savannah Stopover, but I managed to miss their set at Congress Street Social Club, so I was thrilled that the Nashville-based band was booked again by the folks at MusicFile Productions (parent company of Stopover) when they came back through town.

Chrome Pony’s sound at times bridges into garage or grunge, but they keep bending it back to a high-energy rock and roll. I loved Tyler Davis’ lead vocals, stage presence, and interactions with his brother Kyle Davis on drums and backing vocals.

If you haven’t heard Chrome Pony, check out this video for “There He Goes” using video footage from the band’s recent European tour supporting Cage the Elephant:

I bought Chrome Pony’s new EP Past Lives after the show and have had it in regular rotation for the past couple of weeks.

Wet Socks always brings it, but too bad more of their crowd didn’t hang around for Chrome Pony’s set.

Before Wet Socks stormed the stage, Garden Giant showed again that they might become one of the most interesting indie rock outfits in the city.

Lead singers Devin Smith of Garden Giant and Hunter Jayne of Wet Socks were standing in a really dark spot on stage, and I hate to use flash, so I only took a few photos of the openers. Click on through for more:
